Why Do I Have Leg Pain?

If you suffer from leg pain – there are challenges you face each and every day

Often this pain is caused by vein problems, specifically insufficient blood flow. If your veins are not functioning correctly, they can become congested and enlarged. A varicose vein is a vein that is often large and distended. A spider vein is often smaller and located closer to the surface of the skin.

Varicose veins are common and can affect approximately 40% of women and 25% of men. The leading factors for varicose veins are heredity, gender, pregnancy, age and others. Additional factors may accelerate the development of varicose veins and make the veins worse. This includes prolonged standing, obesity, hormone levels, and physical trauma or any condition that contributes to increasing in blood volume can cause the veins to become enlarged.

If you suffer from varicose veins, spider veins or any type of vein disease, you should seek medical help from a physician who specializes in vein treatment.

Are There Symptoms I Should Pay Attention To?

Enlarged veins that can be flesh colored, blue or dark purple. They often look like cords and appear twisted and bulging – raised above the surface of the skin.

In addition to these visual appearances, there are leg symptoms associated with enlarged veins:
•    Aching or cramping pain
•    Leg fatigue
•    Heaviness
•    Swelling
•    Tenderness
•    Inflammation
•    Blood clots
•    Darkening of the skin (in severe cases)
•    Numbness
•    Itching or irritated rash

Don't Leave Untreated

Enlarge veins and varicose veins are much more than a cosmetic concern.

Many people know about varicose veins, but few really understand the underlying causes and potential for developing into more serious complication including:  inflammation (phlebitis), blood clots, ankle sores, skin ulcers or bleeding.  If treated early enough, these complications can be eliminated.

The good news is that with proper treatment, the consequences of suffering with vein problems are greatly reduced than they once were.  Effective and safe treatment is now available.
