Vein Treatment Options
Not too long ago vascular surgery (surgical removal of the problem veins) was the only option available for the treatment of vein problems. Fortunately technology has continued to advance offering less invasive and clinically proven alternatives.
Endovenous Laser Ablation (also known as Endovenous Laser Treatment)
Endovenous Laser Ablation is a minimally invasive laser procedure that treats the underlying cause of varicose veins. A special catheter is inserted into the affected vein. Laser energy directly heats the vein and seals it closed. Thus eliminates the varicose vein.
This procedure can be completed in less than one hour. The patients have a quick recovery, little downtime, no scarring and very little risk of complications. Patients feel and look better quickly.
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is a common form of treatment for spider veins. Problem veins are injected with a solution which causes them to collapse and fade from view. This procedure not only the cosmetic appearance but some leg pain symptoms as well. Typically a few outpatient sessions may be required to obtain maximum benefit.
Phlebectomy
Phlebectomy is removes varicose veins on the surface of the legs. This procedure, done in the office under local anesthesia, involves making tiny incisions through which the varicose veins are removed. The patient is able to walk following the procedure.
